Initiatives

Initiatives

We foster relationships with our suppliers to produce small-batch handmade products. We follow these simple rules for all our products: they must be safe for you and the environment. After we take care of the costs of making each product, we forward part of the profits to the real heroes out there actively making this world a better place!

See what initiatives you empower with your purchase of Ocean Deep products.

Tangaroa Blue Foundation

The name Ocean Deep was inspired by the 'deeper' impact of our skincare products. The ingredients posed no threat to our oceans, and the first round of profits raised ($1000) were donated to Tangaroa in support of their work for our oceans.

In Maori and Polynesian mythology, Tangaroa is the god of the ocean. Tangaroa Blue Foundation is an Australian-wide not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the removal and prevention of marine debris.

To successfully solve the problem, the Australian Marine Debris Initiative (AMDI) was created, an on-ground network of volunteers, communities and organisations that contribute data from rubbish collected during beach and river clean-up events to the AMDI Database, and then work on solutions to stop the flow of litter at the source. The AMDI helps communities look after their coastal environment by providing resources and support programs, and collaborates with industry and government to create change on a large scale.

1 % For The Planet

Member of 1% For The Planet since January 2017

1% for the Planet is a nonprofit organization that connects dollars with doers. Here’s how: we link businesses that contribute at least one percent of annual sales with high-impact environmental nonprofits. We help create partnerships that protect the planet.

We collaborate with member businesses to identify where you can invest dollars that meet your business goals, and we certify that every dollar contributed goes to a vetted, trusted environmental nonprofit. Our members have given tens of millions of dollars to the environment, and our nonprofit partners are doing the hard work of restoring our planet for the future. Our goal is to not only direct business giving toward environmental causes, but to increase the overall amount of global dollars going to help protect the planet.

Two Good Co.

Our involvement in Ocean Deep was inspired by our love for food and up-cycling waste. These guys are tackling more than 1 important issue and we're super happy to support their efforts in providing amazing meals to those in need in sustainable packaging. Ocean Deep will be involved in the Melbourne Volunteer division launching February 2018.

These guys have an amazing mission of being the national provider of beautiful food and lifestyle products to domestic violence refuges and soup kitchens. Operating on a "buy one, give one" ethos, you help them provide the same nutritious meal to domestic violence refuges and people sleeping rough.

Good for them. Twice the good for you.

Y Waste

We are massive supporters for innovative food tech that is helping solve waste issues. We look forward to supporting Y Waste and their journey as they expand operations in Australia and beyond.

Y Waste is an environmental social enterprise with a commitment to reduce food waste, founded by dedicated food waste warriors.

In Australia retailers are throwing away over 3 million tons of processed/eatable food every year, 80% of which is because it’s simply not sold.

Through Y Waste’s network the food outlets can reach out to customers, who in return can come and pick up the delicious surplus food at a specified pick-up time, with considerable discount and the food (or even flowers!) is all paid for through the app.

UFoodi

Combining the possibility to request meals due to different dietary/custom needs and tackling food waste at the same time - we can't wait to see how this app will revolutionise the industry as we know it. Ufoodi embraces both a social change as well as a technological change to the Food Industry and will be driven by the rapidly transforming shared economy to the benefit of both the customer and restaurateur. Please support their Pozible campaign at : https://pozible.com/project/ufoodi

UFOODI is an app that allows you to have complete control, right down to the raw ingredients level of what ends up on your plate. You can customise your meal, including portion sizes and pay for what you have designed, in advance, all before entering a partnered restaurant.
